Yoga
Today we got to try out some yoga moves. We went to the hall and listened to the instructor tell a story about a giant. We incorporated yoga moves to act out the story. Everybody was very relaxed by the end of the session.
Brooke N – I thought the yoga was fun because it was in a story.
James – I saw a pattern when we did the sun, earth, dog, snake then it repeated.
Amelia – I felt great about yoga.
Neo – I found out that yoga came from India 5000 years ago.
Matthew – I noticed that at yoga we were doing exercises.

Visitors from Japan
On Tuesday we had some special visitors in our classroom. They are students from Japan here in New Zealand to study English. They showed us how to make cool origami pieces.
Christchurch Public Librarians
Last week we went to listen to a group of librarians from the Christchurch Public Library. Ruby was a great pirahna and Shiako made a very majestic lion looking for his tail. Have you been to one of our city's great libraries recently? Having a range of books to read at home is important and our libraries are free to join and use.

Wallace & Gromit's Workshop
Wallace and Gromit are old favourites of mine. I love the contraptions that they build. This is a great site to put some of your physics learning into practise.

Fun with Fractions
Below are a couple of online activities that will help you to learn about fractions. The Home site for these games is called Johinnie's Math Page and it has lots of other activities you can try. I have put a link to the home page on the sidebar. MATH ROCKS!!!

Term 2 Week 4 Update
Congratulations to Ella, Rosa and Coco who received certificates at the Year 2 Assembly on Friday.
Brooke N shared a science investigation with the class on Friday - a marshmallow catapult! What a great way to explore physics! Great job Brooke - I bet you had a lot of fun trying it out at home too.

Our Science Alive session on Friday was a big hit. We explored a variety of forces and came up with a plan to save the three little pigs from the big bad wolf.
After lunch we explored oobleck. Oobleck is made from cornflour and water and is a non-newtonian fluid. Under pressure it becomes a solid and when it is not under pressure it becomes a fluid. We found out that we could use oobleck to protect an egg. First we put an unboiled egg into a bag full of oobleck. Then Vianca dropped it from the playground - and it didn't break! Can you think of some other uses for oobleck?
