Athletics Day, Swimming & Kittens

Another very busy week in Room 19. Early in the week, Ruby brought her kittens in to see us. They are very cute and playful.

We also started swimming in our pool. It was wonderful to see how confident the children are in the water now. I was also impressed at how they are able to organise themselves and manage their gear.

Some wonderful children also received certificates at our assemblies in week 7 and week 8. Noah and Neo were awarded the Heart of Achievement certificates, Aakifah, Matthias, Brooke M and Hasini received the Values and Achievment certificates, and Coco, Holly, Noah and Riley earned stickers in their reading books.

On Athletics Day, both our relay teams put in a great effort. They had all worked hard on their fitness and on the all important baton changes. It was great to see their determination in the race. The girls finished second and the boys finished first. The boys then had the opportunity to compete against the parents who had to work very hard for their win. I wonder what the result will be next year?

We used adjectives and bossy verbs to create our recipes. Check out this wonderful writing.

Term 4 Week 4 Update

Congratulations to Rosa and Coco who received certificates at the Year 2 assembly on Friday. I was proud of all the presenters and Lily did a great job of sharing her fireworks recount.

Super readers who received certificates in their reading log books this week were Matthias, Holly, Lexie, Lily and Brooke. Keep up the great reading everyone.

There is a new link on the sidebar for a site called "The Cat in the Hat Knows About That". If you are a fan of Dr Seuss, you will enjoy these games and activities.

Hope to see you at Market Day on Saturday.

This week the class room has had a spooky flavour to it. Below is a picture of Alannah, Amelia, Brooke, Coco, Lexie, Niamh, and Ruby dressed for Trick or Treating on Thursday. The disco on Friday also had a Halloween theme and there are some great pictures up on the school Facebook page.

Click on the picture below to read and listen to a poem called "The Spider and the Fly" and then check out our spider poems and glitter webs in the classroom.

Congratulations to Amelia, Lily and Nick who were awarded certificates at the Year 2 assembly on Friday. Keep up the great work. Hasini and Vianca performed a dance for Diwali at assembly and the video clip of this will be on the blog shortly.

Great readers this week were Noah and Ruby. Well done on attaining your 175 nights stickers.

T3W4 update

The highlight of our week has to have been making sock puppets to practise our fabric & fibre skills and to use in the class puppet theatre. Thank you to all the parent helpers who came along on Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday to help with the stitching and gluing - we couldn't have done it without you.
Everyone is very excited and the puppets look amazing. Noah was our papparazi this week and took some great photos of our sessions.

Congratulations to Neo, Lexie and Amelia who were awarded certificates at Assembly on Thursday and to Neo and Niamh who have earned their next stickers in their reading logs.
