Term 4 Week 2 update

Congratulations to Ella and Niamh who received certificates at assembly on Friday. We are proud of you girls.

Vianca also received a sticker in her reading log this week - keep up the great reading Vianca.

Ruby and Holly both did some great writing this week and you can read this by clicking on the writing tab at the top of this page. I loved the way they used interesting words, included lots of details and you could hear their personality in their work. Well done girls - we are very impressed.

For homework last week the children wrote math stories about mythical creatures. You can find these on the math tab at the top of this page. Can you work out the answers?

Our paparazzi Riley has been very busy this week and has taken some great photos for our blog. Well done Riley.

Kids Can Cook

In week one we had a visit by Chris from Kids Can Cook. Ella was selected to be his Sous Chef, she did an amazing job keeping calm amongst the chaos of crepes landing on the roof and on the floor. The filling was grated apple and chopped silverbeet. We learnt about the different areas of our tongues that taste different flavours and found out that sweet (apple) and bitter (silverbeet) makes a savoury taste. Finally we all got to be Taste Testers with mixed opinions on the final result. We are looking forward to trying out our own ideas at home. Assembly Certificates & Reading Stickers

Congratulations to Alannah, Riley and Brooke who receive certificates at assembly on Friday. Keep up the great work.

 We have also had some more great readers achieving stickers in their reading books this week. Well done Lexie, Coco, Ella, Rosa, Riley and Thomas.

T3 W7 Certificates

Our class presented the Year 2 assembly on Friday. We shared our finished sock puppets and Holly, James, Matthias, Noah, Rosa and Ruby shared the character description for their puppets. Our presenters did a great job and we sang two new songs "Never Hitch a Ride with a Martian" and "Proud" for the audience. Congratulations to Brooke N, Ruby and Niamh who received certificates at assembly this week.

Super Readers in Room 19  this week were Brooke N, Ella, Lily, Lexie and Thomas. Keep up the great work everyone.

It was wonderful to see everyone for getting involved in Wacky Hair Wednesday. You looked really WACKY! The school raised just over $619 for the Child Cancer Foundation which is a great result.

Well done to Ella and Noah who have received stickers in their reading logs for great reading.

Ruby brought along a skirt she made out of plastic supermarket bags - we loved the way you recycled materials to create an interesting looking and sounding art work. Nick also shared some interesting headgear he got in Bali that used fur and feathers.

Mondrian Inspired Art

Last week we learnt about the artist Piet Mondrian (1872 - 1944). We looked at images of his paintings and then created our own in a similar style.

Big Day Out at Clip 'n' Climb

What an awesome afternoon we had at Clip ' n' Climb this afternoon. Thank you very much to all our parent helpers who came along and helped; we would not have been able to get so much climbing in without our help checking harnesses and belay attachments.

Some reflections on our Big Day Out;

Holly - I went up the walls lots of times.
Neo - I tried three times on the rope and ball wall to complete it.
Nick - I was proud when I got into the hole in the rock wall.
Lily - It was hard but I managed to do the dark chimneys.
Ella - Today I tried my best to get right up to the top of the coloured square wall.
Thomas K - I was pleased that I climbed to the top of the timed wall and pushed the button.
