T3W4 update

The highlight of our week has to have been making sock puppets to practise our fabric & fibre skills and to use in the class puppet theatre. Thank you to all the parent helpers who came along on Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday to help with the stitching and gluing - we couldn't have done it without you.
Everyone is very excited and the puppets look amazing. Noah was our papparazi this week and took some great photos of our sessions.

Congratulations to Neo, Lexie and Amelia who were awarded certificates at Assembly on Thursday and to Neo and Niamh who have earned their next stickers in their reading logs.

Special Visitors in Room 19

There was a lot of excitement in Room 19 this afternoon when we were visited by two of the Canterbury Rugby Team - Marcel Cummings-Toone and Belgium Tuatagaloa. Nick did a great job of welcoming them to the classroom and Riley, Brooke N, Neo and Brooke M had the opportunity to play a game of touch with the guys.

Reading at home

Our focus this term is on traditional stories. Check out the links on the Reading Tab at the top of this page to enjoy some stories from around the world. If you know of other links relevant to your heritage, I would love you to email me the link so I can include these too.

If you have some books of these stories at home that you would like to share with your classmates, you can bring them to school - but make sure they are named first please.

T3W2 Round up

It was wonderful to see everyone for getting involved in Wacky Hair Wednesday. You looked really WACKY! The school raised just over $619 for the Child Cancer Foundation which is a great result.

Congratulations to Brooke M, Riley and Noah who received certificates at the Year 2 Assembly on Thursday. We are proud of you.

Well done to Ella and Noah who have received stickers in their reading logs for great reading.

Ruby brought along a skirt she made out of plastic supermarket bags - we loved the way you recycled materials to create an interesting looking and sounding art work. Nick also shared some interesting headgear he got in Bali that used fur and feathers.

T3W1 Roundup

We have had a couple of changes to our classroom this term. Matthew has shifted to Auckland and Thomas has also moved on. Have a great time at your new schools boys. The photos went home last week and orders should be lodged at the office. What a great looking bunch of kids!!! Thank you to everyone who has started bringing in sewing equipment for our kits, puppets and costumes. Basic fact home learning for the next couple of weeks will be to work on the Maths-a-thon facts that were sent home on Thursday. Spelling and reading will continue as normal.

Congratulations to Hasini and Shiako who received certificates at assembly this week.

We also had some great readers over the holidays. Well done Matthias, Brooke, Niamh and Rosa.
