Wonderful Wearable Art Show

What an amazing show!

This week we have been working hard all week to put our show together, and what an awesome performance. We have been overwhelmed with the response from the other classes, staff and families, and our guest judge, Mr Hansen, was also very impressed.

Thank you to everyone who has helped us with donating resources, inspiring the children, helping the children create their costumes, face painting, photography. supporting nervous children and managing the very tired people (children and teacher) afterwards. We could not have achieved this stunning result with out you.

Each and everyone of the children were brilliant and special congratulations to the following children from Room 19 who received certificates on the night.

Room 19 Highly Commended: Nick

Wearable Art Narrative

Visitors from Hiptoxin

Once upon a time in a galaxy far, far, away there was a planet no one knew about, behind the moon, the sun and the stars. Hiptoxin they called it; the hidden planet.

It was a happy planet inhabited by unique looking creatures. But one disastrous day invaders arrived from the other side of the universe. The battle raged for decades and what was once a beautiful place was left wrecked and ruined.

A group of Hiptoxonians decided to leave in search of a new home. After many light years of roaming outer space, they saw an extraordinary blue and green planet and zoomed down to investigate.

They landed at St Albans School, in the middle of the Year 2 Wearable Art show. The aliens had so much fun and loved the school so much they decided to stay and become part of Room 19.

Sometimes you can still see them scampering about the playground and getting into mischief.

Gymnastics!

On Wednesday we had a trip to the Christchurch School of gymnastics with Room 16. This was lots of fun. Everyone faced challenges and worked hard to overcome them. Well done, we are all very proud of you.

Below is a copy of the notice sent home.

Wearable Arts Show Update

Thursday 12 September

Everyone is very excited about our planned Wearable Art Show and this week we have been making great progress - thanks to our wonderful helpers. The show will be held at 6:30pm on the 26th of September in the school hall. We have a Guest Judge and will also be entertained by our Year 2 choir. Afterwards we will be having a shared supper. Please bring a plate of food and place it on the table in the hall foyer before the show if you can join us.

Next week (Week 8) we will be putting the finishing touches on the costumes. We will also begin rehearsals for our performance. The week after (Week 9) we will be having dress rehearsals and giving the other Year levels a sneak preview of our show.  Your child will need to have the following items to wear underneath their cloak for the dress rehearsals and the evening performance. These can be left at school in a named supermarket bag which we will hook up with their cloak to keep it all safe and on hand.
  • dark coloured leggings or long pants
  • a plain dark coloured t-shirt

Thank you for your support.

T3 W7 Certificates

Our class presented the Year 2 assembly on Friday. We shared our finished sock puppets and Holly, James, Matthias, Noah, Rosa and Ruby shared the character description for their puppets. Our presenters did a great job and we sang two new songs "Never Hitch a Ride with a Martian" and "Proud" for the audience. Congratulations to Brooke N, Ruby and Niamh who received certificates at assembly this week.

Super Readers in Room 19  this week were Brooke N, Ella, Lily, Lexie and Thomas. Keep up the great work everyone.
